What is the EN 1047-1 certification for a safe?

As mentioned above, this certification approves a safe as a fireproof safe that can withstand fire and protect its contents for a duration of 60 to 120 minutes. Safety tests are conducted to validate this certification: fire safes are heated to 1090°C for the desired duration, then dropped from a height of more than 9.15 meters onto gravel (equivalent to a 3-story fall after a floor collapse caused by a fire). To be certified, the safe must remain intact and not reach a temperature higher than 175°C throughout the test.

What is the EN 15659 certification for a safe?

This security class only considers the effect of heat on the safe. It is less strict than the EN 1047-1 standard. Fireproof safes with this certification are approved to resist fire for 30 to 60 minutes (according to LFS).
